Dr Louise J HarroldClinical Psychologist

Life can be unpredictable and challenging at times, especially when carrying the burden of past or current trauma in your everyday life. As a clinical psychologist, it is a privilege that people share their personal stories with me, trusting me to listen and support without judgement.

I work with adults who have experienced trauma in their life, and the emotional and psychological impact which is preventing them from living the life they truly want. I specialise in single and multiple trauma, including birth and medical trauma, as well as bereavement and loss. I also work with those individuals living with a long-term health condition or persistent physical symptoms, but this is not exclusive. If you would like to arrange a free consultation, please do get in touch with me.

Areas of work

Sometimes the 'backpack of life' from the past or present can get too much to carry so having a space to understand and process the emotional and psychological pain can help

Whatever has brought you here, whether it's a single event that changed your life, or an accumulation of events that has become too difficult to carry- I can offer a space for you to begin to make sense of it and help resolve the trauma that is stopping you live the life you want.   I work with adults who are ready to take that first and often the most difficult step.

My approach

Evidence-based and Trauma-informed care

I draw on a range of evidence-based (NICE and SIGN guidelines) therapeutic approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), tailored to what each person needs. My practice is grounded in the belief that recovery is possible, and that the therapeutic relationship in itself is a powerful part of that process. Sessions are offered in a way that feels safe, compassionate, and respectful of your experience.
